Sunday October1 Road Closure - Village of Pinehurst
Market Square and a section of Dogwood Road in the Village of Pinehurst will be closed to traffic due to road paving for the Village of Pinehurst's Downtown Resurfacing project. Pedestrians can still use the sidewalks. Questions? Contact the Village of Pinehurst’s Public Services at 910-295-5021.

November Driver Education Classes for Union Pines HS and Pinecrest HS
The November Driver Education classes for Union Pines HS and Pinecrest HS students open up at noon on Saturday, September 30. Please follow the new registration process as you REGISTER HERE. Also note that the North Moore HS class is already full. More details can be found HERE.
Dewberry Cafe taking over The Old Hardware in Carthage
The Dewberry Cafe will be officially taking over The Old Hardward in Carthage on November 3rd. Dewberry Cafe re-opening day/time is still tbd. Congrats to Dewberry Cafe!

Moore County Traffic Stop Uncovers Drugs; Jackson Springs Man Arrested
On September 26, Moore County Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted a traffic stop on Highway 211. During the inspection, they found various drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, morphine, hydrocodone, and suboxone, along with drug-related items.
Sean Harrington, 33, from Jackson Springs, was arrested on multiple drug possession and intent to sell charges. Additionally, there was an existing arrest warrant for Harrington in Moore County related to driving offenses.
He is currently held at the Moore County Detention Center with a $51,000 bond and has a court date set for October 26.

Southern Pines Candidates Forum
Residents of Southern Pines are cordially invited to the Candidates Forum at the E.S. Douglass Community Center on Sunday, October 22nd, starting at 3:30 p.m. This event provides an opportunity for the community to engage with and understand the perspectives of candidates participating in the November 7th election.
Event Highlights:
Moderated by a representative from the League of Women Voters.
Each candidate will present an opening statement.
A Q&A session where attendees can submit written questions. These will be vetted for relevance and repetition.
Concluding with a closing statement from each participant.
A chance for attendees to personally meet and greet the candidates post-forum.
Candidates in Attendance: Mayoral Candidates: Taylor Gillis Clement and Oliver Hines. Town Council Candidates: Debra Luciana Gray, William Hargrave Pate, and Karen Elizabeth Tussing.
This non-partisan forum is jointly sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Southern Pines Civic Club, and the West Southern Pines Civic Club. The primary aim is to foster public awareness and engagement for the forthcoming election.
