Synergy Steel Joins Forces with Children of Fallen Heroes for Retreat and STEAM Center in Moore County
The Children of Fallen Heroes (CFH), shared exciting news last week about a new partnership with Southern Steel of South Carolina for their upcoming project, the Children of Fallen Heroes Retreat and STEAM ( Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Education Center.
This innovative facility, strategically located in Vass, encompasses 82 acres and features a 73,000 square foot center. The project's first phase includes the construction of 20 tiny homes, designed to provide a nurturing and supportive retreat for military families and widowed spouses.
Announced in March 2023, following the acquisition of the necessary land, the project is currently in its fundraising stage with a target of $500,000. To date, a significant portion of this goal has been achieved, with over $80,000 in donations. The public is encouraged to contribute to this noble cause, with options for donations including naming rights and nonprofit partnerships.
For details and information on how to donate, go to Children of Fallen Heroes Website. Full story Fayetteville Business Journal.
Southern Pines Town Council Ponders Overhaul of Mill Creek Retail Hub
The Southern Pines Town Council is deliberating the expansion of Mill Creek shopping center, proposing to update the list of permissible businesses from 14 to 87. This revision aims to modernize the center, which is anchored by Harris Teeter and includes various small businesses. Traffic concerns and the potential for installing traffic signals or roundabouts are under review, along with plans for pedestrian and bike paths. The council has postponed its decision to February 13, pending further traffic analysis and input from the Department of Transportation. Other council activities include approvals for a new medical facility, a townhome development, ordinance amendments, and discussions on apartment development and town building renovations.
