🎉 CELEBRATE! TODAY IS…

Congratulations to Caring Hearts for Canines! 🐶
In the heart of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Caring Hearts for Canines has been a beacon for dogs since 2014, offering them a chance at a love-filled life.
Founded by Jennifer Johnston Chopping, this non-profit emerged in response to North Carolina's high euthanasia rates. Their mission? Rescue and re-home dogs from high kill shelters, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.
Every dog welcomed by Caring Hearts is showered with love, vetted, microchipped, and, if of age, spayed or neutered, all funded by generous donations.
Beyond rescues, CHFC is committed to community education, emphasizing the importance of spay/neuter and proper canine care. Their growing network of volunteers and donors are the pillars of this noble mission.
One such miracle unfolded recently. Caring Hearts for Canines announced the joyous news that they have successfully purchased their building, thanks for the overwhelming support from the community. A few months ago, they reached out, and the community answered with overwhelming generosity. Through a sizable matched donation, fundraising events, and the #buythebuilding initiative, they realized their dream. Owning their building solidifies their role in the community and will enable them to continue their mission.
As they celebrate, CHFC encourages continued support, reminding us of the mutual rescue journey: "We Rescue Them, They Rescue Us."
Annie Oakley cabin in Pinewild recently torn down
Yes, Annie Oakley lived in Pinehurst and contributed much to the community. During her cherished time in Pinehurst, Oakley showcased her remarkable shooting skills, impressing many with her unique feats. She transitioned from shooting apples off her husband's head to performing mirror-assisted backward shots after a cautionary comment from Pennsylvania’s then-governor in 1916. Actively involved in her community, Oakley managed the Pinehurst Gun Club and trained an estimated 15,000 women in shooting. Although her offer to train soldiers during World War I was declined, she frequently entertained the troops. In a notable act of generosity, she donated her melted gold medals to support the establishment of what is now the renowned FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Ranks 17th in Fortune/PINC AI™ U.S. Top 100
Amidst a challenging year for many hospitals with increased closures and bankruptcies, FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C., has been recognized as the 17th best hospital in the U.S. by the Fortune/PINC AI™ 100 Top Hospitals list in the Large Community Hospital category. This list evaluates 2,644 U.S. hospitals based on various performance metrics. FirstHealth stood out with high ratings in operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial health, marking its 8th appearance on the list. The selection process for the 100 Top Hospitals is unbiased, with hospitals not applying or paying for the honor. PINC AI™ projected that if all U.S. hospitals matched the top 100's performance, significant patient and financial benefits would be realized suggesting that an additional 272,000 lives would be saved, and 432,000 patients would be spared complications.
