Mother and Child Killed in Vass Road Collision

A mother, Dakota Morris-Zolman, 23, and her 4-year-old child were killed in a collision on Lobelia Road outside Vass on Wednesday evening. Their westbound Buick crossed into the opposite lane, hitting an eastbound GMC Acadia. A bystander attempted CPR on the child, but both mother and child died. The GMC's driver was airlifted for treatment, and her condition is unclear, while her son was unharmed. The accident led to a temporary road closure while the NC Highway Patrol investigated and the road was cleared.

You will be asked for a photo id to vote in the upcoming elections. As mentioned in yesterday’s issue, you can obtain a voting photo id from the Moore County Board of elections office. To help serve the community, there will be a Voter Photo ID Community event planned for Thursday, Sept. 28th from 2pm to 6pm at the Douglass Community Center in Southern Pines. Please note that these voter photo ids can only be used for voting purposes. In order to be issued a voter photo id, you will be asked to provide your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your social security number.
