Disturbance Call in West End Leads to Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

In response to a disturbance call in West End, a Moore County deputy fatally shot a man armed with a knife. The initial report came from a woman who said her son had a knife, had possibly harmed their neighbor, and was threatening another family member. Despite commands to drop the weapon, the man approached the deputy, prompting the fatal action. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is now reviewing the incident. The man's identity and details of any other victims remain unconfirmed.

Evidence Links Dunmore to Allisha Watts' Death

On Thursday, a judge in Montgomery County determined there was sufficient evidence to believe that James Dunmore was responsible for the murder of his girlfriend, Allisha Watts. Watts, who was 39, went missing in July, with her body being discovered roughly a month later. The evidence suggests she was killed on the day of her disappearance. Currently, 51-year-old Dunmore is in custody without the possibility of bail. The case has been transferred to Superior Court, where Dunmore could potentially receive the death penalty if found guilty. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for October 23.
